COVID-19 Guidelines at the Counselling Room
April 12th 2021 Update: All indoor sessions must have a signed risk assessment before they can take place.

Alternative methods for having your counselling session will always take priority over having to have a session indoors. This means sessions will usually take place either online, on the phone, or outdoors before looking at having a session in the Counselling Room. In order to keep everyone safe and to reduce risk, measures have been put in place at the Counselling Room. Please comply by these measures to ensure a smooth running of both the counselling service and the organisations using the building.

Feeling unwell or self-isolating?

  • Please do not attend an indoor counselling session if you are feeling unwell such as a cough, cold, flu, infection or low immune system. Text or email Kim-Leng to request for the session to be changed to outdoors, online or over the phone instead. The Counselling Room is based at a building that helps support vulnerable people who may have low immune systems, so it is vital that both you and Kim-Leng are proactive in terms of keeping everyone safe.

  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19 or are socially isolating, please do not attend any sessions at the office or outdoors and use online sessions instead.

Social Distancing:

  • A strict 2-metre rule exists in the building.

  • A reduced service to use the Counselling Room is designed to stop the risk of spreading infection. This means counselling sessions in the room must be booked and prearranged through Kim-Leng, not via this website.

  • Only 1 person other than Kim-Leng is allowed in the Counselling Room at a time.

  • If you have arrived by car, please park in the Long Marsh pay and display carpark opposite the building until 5 minutes before your waiting time. Kim-Leng will either text you to enter the building and come to the room, or meet you in reception.

  • Please do not enter the building and wait in corridors or reception areas.

  • On arrival and depature, please use the hand-sanitiser at the reception desk. There is also sanitiser in the counselling room.

  • All touch-points are regularly sprayed with anti-bacterial spray. You are welcome to bring your own gloves if you are worried about touching handles or doors, etc.

  • Stationary is not allowed to be shared, so please bring your own pens and a notepad if you find it useful. You are welcome to use your phone or tablet during the session too.

  • Likewise, cups or mugs are not allowed to be shared. Please bring your own drink to sessions.

  • Toilets are open and frequently sanitised, you are welcome to use them both upstairs and downstairs. Please use the toilet sinks to wash your hands for 20 seconds, which I highly recommend you do so if you have touched anything.
